to reprogram you apple laserwriter speed from 9600 to 57600

CAT this to /dev/ttyS0 or

type filename > COM1

You can change the comms settings on the printer by executing the 
following bit of PS:

serverdict begin 0 exitserver
statusdict begin
25 57600 0 setsccbatch

to change the 25-pin port to 57600 baud, no parity.
im using 57600,8,n,1  xon/xoff software handshaking

works well and is bareable for speed as well.
speedy for text and acceptable for graphics.
