Hello there.

I never heard of the SPP-3, there are 3 families of SPP machines:

SPP-1x00 : PA-RISC 1.1 based (7x00), 32bit with a neat-o looking enclosure
(blinkenlights that remind the load LEDs from the BeBox but on stereoids).
Runs SPP-UX, which is binary compatible with HP-UX 10.20 but plain HP-UX
won't run on it.

SPP-2x00: PA-RISC 2.0 based (8x00), 64bit with a box-like enclosure.
Basically it is a V-class HP server runs HP-UX

SPP-3x00: Itanium based, 64bit... dunno if these machines ever made into
the field.

So it maybe that you have one of the latter which maybe pretty cool. But
they are way too new for people throwing them away already.

Now, it could be you are being offered a Convex C-3, which is a vector
supercomputer. The weight seems to be about right though (although I had
never had to transport one of these machines). It run ConvexOS which is a
very propietary unix (ala Unicos) for the machine.
