I'd hook it up temporarily and get the right settings, then put the LCD and U10 on the KVM.

Can't you force a connection between the LCD & U10 in the KVM prior to powering up the U10, so that it can sense it? Does the KVM "mask" the sensing always, or just when the U10 is not selected?
