FWIW, the Sun doc calls for it to be there. Mine seems to work fine whether
it's there or not.

The one goofball problem I have with my E3K is when I put a device in the
second internal bay at various unused SCSI ID's it hangs the machine, even
though there are no other devices at that ID on any bus.
