It only works because somewhere along the way people forgot that
computers are technical tools--not office furniture.  You can be certain
that they'll ask a plumber's opinion of what sort of toilet they need to
install on the first-floor restroom to stay up to code, but they'll
blindly replace an entire datacenter with Dells because of the glossy
trademags.
