I think you might be interested in checking out "libertarianism".

I would normally not entertain the idea, but the half-assed approach at a
hybrid of socialism and capitalism in the UK makes it more compelling as a
concept. (Not that the USA is any better - the balance is different, but the
net result seems to be about the same.)

Of course, libertarianism is as practical as communism, both being
unreachable ideals. But it's an interesting thing to think about if nothing
else, even if one does end up running straight back to the more familiar
system afterwards.

(Now this just *has* to be completely off topic...)
