I remember testing high-speed CDC-DPL band printers.  Those things made
a piercing, tearing, high-pitched bandsaw scream.  Ear protection was
mandatory if you had to lift the acoustic cover while the printer was
running.  I forget how many hundred lines per minute they were, but it
was a lot, on a full-width carriage with 132 hammers driving a spinning
steel print-band.
