I agree that the 1.6" drives are part of the problem. Also many hp drive 
carriers have a little sca extender for the drive so that it sticks out 
some from the back. I do have an lp2000r (at work) but I don't remember 
if the carrier in there has that extension part. Since I guess that the 
extender was probably used to clear that space when putting a 1.6" drive 
in the backplane, then the lp2000r might not use it since it was 
designed for 1" only drives.
