Thanks to whomever it was tipped me off about the special console
cable..... found online info on it, made a cable, and magic... I
have a console... and all tests seem to pass (except ethernet, but
I don't have it plugged in or an ethernet terminator on it... so
the test is supposed to fail).

I also found out it has 6 meg of RAM (well, that's better than the
standard 2 I guess :-) ).

Next question, anyone out there got a bigger RAM expansion for this
critter ? Maybe one in a box that has failed, is beat up, etc ?

I have an 8 plane graphics card on the way, although I don't have
the cables, etc for it, so I probably won't do anything with it
right away.

Anyone have the special internal hd/floppy interface cable for one
(I could build one, but if anyone has one it will save me the effort).

Also, anyone ever upgrade the ROM images to support booting from SCSI.

I've seen the patch files on the net for it... but as I don't have
a VMS system up, etc, nor the original firmware, I can't generate
these ROM images. I have a ROM burner (that I haven't tested yet :-) )...
so I could make a set.

I gather the SCSI performance when used is not stellar, so I wonder how
it compares to the MFM performance.... can anyone comment on that ?

I'm one step closer to getting this thing working.

Anyone got a VAX Ultrix CD they would part with ? How about old VMS
CDs (I'd imagine an older VMS would run better on this limited box
than the latest OpenVMS... although I plan to try the latest OpenVMS
anyway).

How many VAXStation 2000 owners out there ?
