I'm in the same boat.

Oh, but the politicians and training schools keep telling me that the
future is bright.

My last good contract ended May 2000, and the two since then were lean.

I figured by this point in my life I'd be working steady, not hopping
around.  Now I can't even hop!

They couldn't be located in Richmond, Virginia would they?

I've interviewed there.  Strange place.  A little bit cultish.  I
interviewed there while Divx was hot, and they must have been required
to gush about it.  I heard more about Divx in my interview for a UNIX
admin position in the corporate HQ than anything else.
