Many of the windows only printers (especialy the HP ones) can be driven
by ghostscript. There even is an open source HP plugin for ghostscript
(from HP)  will run on most unixes and can be driven by CUPS.

HP also sells an Ethernet to USB printer server for about $150. You might
be able to get one cheaper on Ebay. It will work with any brand USB printer.
But make sure that the printer is supported. Look at linux print 
(or linuxprinting) or something like that .org for information.

CUPS runs on almost every flavor of UNIX too.
