I had an E450 running Networker 6, and I consistently streamed 40MB/sec
over the hme interface with no tuning to the hme interface. Got the same
when we moved to the ge (PCI Gigabit Ethernet 2.x) card. Once again, no
tuning, and I don't think 'ge' defaults to large frames, since that might
break things with older/non-jumbo-compatible switching gear.

I know that doing dd pipes got me even faster transmission over hme and
ge, once again without tuning. The 40MB/sec was probably a limitation of
my scsi controller (it was LVD, but I'm not sure the Solaris driver for
it was as good as I'd wished for--the other stuff was striped/mirrored
over multiple controllers and buses).
