AppleTalk was the original Apple networking protocol and it evolved into 
LocalTalk.

AppleTalk used the three wire round connector. LocalTalk uses the RJ-11 phone 
jack. 

Phonenet is LocalTalk made by Farallon. There were other manufacturers.
