[rescue] Help with Laserjet 4SI duplexer error (phantom pain)

Hi folks,

I'm messing with some neat 90s printers (IIIsi, 4SI) and I have
one 4SI that's a bit baffling. Apparently at some point it had a
duplexer, because it's giving me a "54 SERVICE" error which apparently
means there's a problem with the duplexer unit or the duplexer guide.

Alas, there is no duplexer in the machine.

Does anyone know how to convince a 4SI that the missing duplexer is
in fact not there, or anything else that might get it past this error?

The first IIIsi I tested looked good, and printed a happy test
page (200k pages or so)... but it has no interfaces installed.
I can fix that if I cannibalize one of the others.

The upside of this project is it's kinda nice to be in front of my laptop
in the parking lot messing with this stuff, with an extension cord dropped
off the porch so I don't have to carry the 120+ pound printers upstairs. :)
