As I understand it, Solaris is SunOS plus OpenWindows.

SunOS 4.x + OpenWindows == Solaris 1.x

Then came the SVR4-ified SunOS, Solaris 2, which they sometimes also
called SunOS 5.x. After that came Solaris 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6
and from 2.7 they left out the 2., so it became Solaris 7, Solaris 8,
Solaris 9.

Solaris 5.1 is hence not a valid name, nor is Solaris 6.

I'm not a Sun expert, so I might be wrong on details.

Cheers,
Walter.
