libpam.so.1 does not (and is not supposed to) exist on a 2.5.1 box.

Wouldn't recommend logging out.  You probably won't get back in, at
least not with out dropping to single user.

It sounds more like someone replaced /bin/login with something from a 
later version of Solaris. 

The quick/cheap way to get a replacement binary is to grab the
/usr/bin/login patch for 2.5.1  (106160-02) from sunsolve.sun.com, and
extract the binary out. (Be certain to check the other pre-requisite
patches) 

My gut feeling however, someone may of fub'd your box in a serious way,
and this will be the first of many problems.
