I believe the only differences are:
  * faster backplane x000 has 83MHz, and the x500 has 100MHz
  * x500 systems ship with FC-AL instead of SCSI, normally.

Obviously this doesn't apply to the E10k.

Totally different systems.  The x800 "Fire" systems use a completely
different system design, different CPUs (UltraSPARC III), and are
entirely FC-AL.

Sun was nice enough to use the same disc brackets on all of them,
though. :)
