Thanks to everybody who replied. I have tried pulling a floppy/ cable (twisted) from an Ultra 5, but that didn't work. Devfsadm and the touch /reconfigure && init 6 dance don't seem to help. I'm looking for a straight-through 34pin cable and floppy drive, but I don't have many PC spares. The search continues...
