   Dude, there are *USED* FPGAs on eBay in excess of a thousand bucks.  
Spartan IIs are tiny.  We're talking things like big Virtex chips.

   Do an eBay search for "xilinx" or look at seller "danfuboco" on any 
given day and you'll see what I mean.
