As an organic chemist I do not agree....love isopropyl's smell... it
will always smell clean, sterile, and like REAL alcohol... ethanol just
smells like bland cherries and has no real "nose" to it.

Good smells in solvents:

Diethyl ether
Cyclopentadiene
Ethyl Acetate
Acetic Acid
Acetic Anhydride (don't huff this)
Acetone
Isopropanol
Xylene and Toluene (don't huff these either... but the residual smells
are kind of nice)
Hexanes (pet ether)
Ammonia (from a distance)
Phenol (from a distance)

Bad smells in solvents:

DMSO
Pyridine
Methylene Chloride
THF
"any amine"
Phosphoric Acid
"any halogenated hydrocarbon agent like allyl bromide"
Chloroform (not that bad)
MTBE (not that bad)
Sulfides
