I don't know... I can't imagine what real difference there would be.

I know that the AIT drives in our library at my previous job had special
faceplates -- an open, flapless design that probably improved mechanical
reliability. Since they were mounted inside a library, there was no need
for the dust flaps. But otherwise they were identical to the stand-alone
models.

Perhaps that's all it is, different faceplates?
