This is dragging up a bit of ancient history ... the '@' character is (I 
believe) the default for 'werase'. Doesn't make much sense to set it to 
that these days, so :-

	stty werase ^W

should set it to something sensible.

I could be mistaken, so if that doesn't work do 'stty -a' to see what 
control character is set to '@' and fix it.
