Well, because I have the reverse problem, I need the SGI to mount a remote
filesystem (a nfs export on a Sun sparc20), not have the SGI serve up files
to other machines. And samba doesn't allow you to mount CIFS shares onto the
unix tree (unless your running linux). The programs I found that do allow
this (rumba or sharity-lite, sharity demo version) uses the NFS kernel
interface to mount CIFS shares onto the unix tree. And since I don't have any
NFS software this doesn't work. :(

I think I'm finally onto something though, IBM released AFS into the wild
and there are binaries for IRIX and Solaris. The only problem is that AFS
is an entirely new filesystem (if I'm understanding this correctly) so I'm
going to need a empty parition on the Sun to store the data. I should have
a spare drive soon to test this out. Unless some kind soul out there has
a copy of irix 6.5 media that they would be willing to lend, sell, or copy :)

Ciao,
Jody
