[rescue] Busted - was 'WTB: peripheral power supply for Sun E3000'

A funny story follows.

I felt the chutzpah rising and I rang Sun support to see if my machine was
still under support. Luckily it came up on the Sun database as being under
a silver support contract to a local university (-:

They immediately sent out a replacement power supply to my work (thanks
guys). Unfortunately their logisitics guys stuffed up and they sent out a
unit that had already been RMA'd back to Sun (oops - glad I'm _not_ paying
for this support). So I called to investigate getting another unit and the
engineer said he'd get another unit sent out ASAP.

However I get a call on my voicemail this afternoon asking me to call the
aforementioned engineer. He nervously says that he's noticed "a couple of
discrepencies" and "has there been a misunderstanding?".

He seemed like a nice guy I didn't really want to get him in trouble over
this so I agreed that "yes, there does seem to be a discrepency" and "no,
the machine is no longer being run by $client". In other word I was Busted!

In case it isn't obvious, I'm sending back the faulty PSU.

I'm sure that there is a deep karmic meaning to this episode (-: However I
am a bit worried that the next time I call Sun tech support that their CTI
system will light up with "Warning. Warning. Warning." when they enter my
name.

Regards,

Gavin
