I thought that all the 390s could run linux from inside VM, but that
ones that could run linux natively were more selective.  However, if you
are running linux natively, you aren't going to being doing any more
than 1 instance.

I'd be surprised if those machines on eBay came with licenses (even if
the OS is still installed), and getting a license would be costly.
However, for all the lesser machines you could replace with it, it might
be decent anyway.
