Actually I grew up in Canada and did not leave until I was 22.

My favorite comment on the situation was a cartoon by Aislin, where
some Quebec politician is shown yelling "Bloody Racists" - but..

the words "Bloody Racists" are in type 1.25 inches high, with a little
measuring stick showing their height. Underneath, in letters 2.5
inches high, with the same sort of measuring marked off, are the words
"Maudits Racistes".

BTW I moved to the USA in part because Rush Limbaugh was saying things
on the radio that would get him arrested and thrown in jail if he said
them in Canada (assuming the bureaucracy-laden CRTC would even allow
him on the air for more than 20 seconds). It was obvious which
country was more free.

If Svend Robinson gets his way it will be illegal to publicly read out
loud some parts of the Torah, the Talmud, the Koran, or the Bible -
because homos will be offended by some of the passages.

If you are referring to English/Spanish, the difference is that there
is not a law requiring cereal boxes to have exactly the same words in
both English and Spanish, in exactly the same size of lettering, for
sale of said cereal to be legal.

Market forces decide what gets printed, not some bureaucrat who owes
his job to political patronage.

If only John A. MacDonald had thrown up on the politicians in
Parliament more and the floor less we could have avoided this whole
mess.
