I have two pairs of what I think are long-haul 10Mb Fiber Transcievers (big 
steel cans the size of cigar boxes, 3-prong 120V power cords.  I think these 
guys do long distance runs (Like 20Km).  They're available if anyone can find 
enough documentation to use them...
