Well, believe it or not, even in California the temperature isn't constant
forever. It just happened to be 38 when I was typing that. We've had lows
in the 20s. If you want to wear sandals in that, it explains a lot. :)

Everything is relative, as the Mormons say. 40 degrees in Key West was
making news. 40 degrees in Egegik would also, but for the opposite reason.
My last winter in the midwest, we had 38 days in a row below freezing.
Sure, you might walk uphill a hundred miles in the snow each way just to
get your White Castles, but that doesn't make those of us who choose where
to live any worse. :)
