From the Linuxworld Expo Conference on Linux in the film studios...
Dreamworks SKG is hiring (among other things sysadmins). The guy I
talked to said I could forward my resume to him... two dilemmas...1.
they're in California and my girlfriend has a wonderful job she started
recently 2. they're moving totally to linux on commodity hardware...
which brings me to point 2. They are getting rid of all their SGI
hardware. I saw a sad photo of piles of O2's, Octanes, Origin 200's,
etc. in the hallway. He actually told me to ask him about them as well
as send my resume. Heh and they were saying something about how with
SGI they changed hardware every 5 years and now they change it every
year... (as if hardware churn is a good thing [tm]) Working for a
renegade animation film studio (love how they poke fun at Disney... and
love Shrek) would still be cool. Dream job would be at Pixar.... hmmm
