For the record, this is probably better aimed at sunhelp @ sunhelp.org, as
it hasn't much to do with rescuing old hardware.

But since it is a great mistake, your best bet is to restore from the tape
backups. Probability is probably low that you can recover the old stuff,
especially if data has been written to to the new filesystem, unless you
send it to a recovery service. That's expensive and can be time consuming,
and I don't even know any non-USA recovery services so you'd have to find
one first.
