definitely.  i've got an SSA-112 which is a JBOD drive array that is in the
same case as the SS1000.  UPS kindly dropped it (and from a pretty significant
height as well since it was quite damagaged through injected foam packing) and
managed to break all the plastic skins, and so it looks like hell, but it works
fine since on the inside it's solid steel.  think tank.  these old sun boxes
were made to last.  last what i don't know, but whatever it was they were made
to last thought it was a pretty devestating situation. :)

nor have i, those ejector handles are WEAK.  unfortunately the continued to use
them into the current enterprise line.  oh well.

if you want a cool unix box and this thing works, this is it.  these things
rock.  they are also loud and put out a LOT of heat, so be prepared. :)
