next time take a good look at definition 2. the word itself also means to
speak with hated or intent to abuse, acidic quality of speech. that sort
of thing. it had nothing to do with chemistry. lord knows i hated
chemistry and i would be inclined to tell the first person who wanted to
nitpick over acidic vs. caustic bases to sit on both 'til it hurts..
