High Volume, Low Pressure. Like an airless sprayer, but uses a little air
and has a LOT less overspray. Great for painting anything large. Had one,
miss it dearly.

Yuch. I bet it got in your hair and everything. To avoid texture spraying I
used an Armstrong ceiling product once that looks *exactly* like a woodplank
ceiling (woodgrain and all). It goes on with a staple gun, has no grids and
it pretty cheap (about $130 for an average 12X12 room). They come white, but
can be stained to look like stained wood.
