So, uhm, what counts as near a flourescent light? Is 1 ft close enough,
or does it need to be closer still to count as near?

I only ask because I have a pair of cat5 cables running 10mbit ethernet
about 6" to 12" away from a light in the guest room, and they are working
at full speed. Although, one of those two cables is labled cat5e.
