[rescue] Solaris 8 Differences

I've outpaced 14.4K on typing and used to be able to outpace 28.8K at
reading, myself.

I've managed to wrap the buffer on a 9600 baud data line before.  I've
seen data entry clerks wrap 14.4 links before.
