I can't really say anything usefull about stereo speakers.  I heard a
set of infinities that were amazing once, but I was told that the pair
cost $3k.  Otherwise, everything I've heard sounds equal to or worse
than my altec lansings.  This is mainly so say that I don't know many
people who invested much money in speakers, and I certainly can't afford
to do so myself.
