It's my belief that the difference in time was due to a stronger
password.  The i2 had a word as the password (perhaps the last name of
someone associated with the machine), and the o2 had a word followed by
numbers.  As i recall, john the ripper first goes through a dictionary,
then tries variants of the dictionary (i.e.appending numbers to
dictionary words), but i could be wrong.
