Note that this is true on Sun, with their tremendously crappy IDE
implementation.  Not really true at all on x86 with Linux,
Free/Net/OpenBSD running at UltraDMA2 or higher.  

Of course, unlike SCSI, IDE chains should really only have 1 device
per channel - usually there are 4 channels available (then again, do
you really want more than 4 SCSI devices on a single SCSI chain?)

So, how much does a u5 with loads of RAM (to minimize disk IO
problems) go for these days?
