  Umm, no.  If this were a viable option in all cases, the solid-state
disk manufacturers wouldn't be making all the money they're making.

  *Some* memory is cheap, not all.  I just put another 256MB in my G4
Mac for $35.00, while the same amount of RAM for my file server, which
is an AlphaServer 800, would cost me like $450.00.  Solid-state disks
are [obviously] for relatively important, performance-sensitive
applications...and anyone doing that sort of stuff on a PeeCee (for
which memory really IS cheap) needs to have their head examined to
start with.
