Okay, so it's wide scsi, and the storage system spreads out the data 1 bit at 
a time over multiple core blocks, so that each word of data is accessed in 
parallel, 1 bit from each subsystem, each access retrieving 1 word of data.

and we'll build it out of that 3 dimensional core stuff...
