except for the fact that in hardware like this, the FastE port was either to
hook to a high speed server, or as an uplink to other network hardare.
10x10mbit ethernet ports can talk across a single 100mbit link to another set
of 10x10mbit ethernet ports withouth interfering with each other.  what you
choose to put on the other end of that link though is up to you. ;)
