The American media, the commentariat and US federal government officials =
were quick to point the finger at Osama bin Laden as the main suspect =
responsible for the attacks, though nobody has so far come up with any =
hard evidence to show that he was. To some independent observers, =
however, the sophistication and sheer scale of attack, and the =
meticulous planning that must have gone into them, suggested that the =
attacks could have been the handiwork of Israeli Mossad intelligence =

Stern-Intel (Canada) reported on Thursday that a US military =
intelligence source had revealed details of an internal memo that =
pointed to Mossad having links to the world trade center and Pentagon =
attacks. The intelligence source, who according to Stern-Intel, =
requested that his name be withheld, confirmed that the internal US =
intelligence memo circulated four weeks ago described information that =
pointed to the threat of covert Israeli operation on American soil to =
turn mass public opinion against Palestinian Arabs via an apparent =
terrorist attack on US interests that would give Israel the green light =
to implement a large-scale military onslaught against the Palestinian =
Arab population. The Stern-Intel report said that the September 11 =
attack had been described by experts as being too sophisticated for a =
lone terrorist group to execute. "This attack required a high level of =
military precision and the resources of an advanced intelligence agency. =
In addition, the attackers would have needed to be extremely familiar =
with both Air Force One flight operations, civilian airline flight paths =
and aerial assault tactics on sensitive US cities like Washington," said =
David Stern, an expert on Israeli intelligence operations. Stern said, " =
the attacks have certainly turned US public opinion firmly back in =
Israel's favor after 11 months of Palestinian intifada, heavy criticism =
of Israel over war crimes allegations and racism by United Nations =
conference in Durban. The attacks serve no Arab group or nation's =
interests but their timing came in the midst of international =
condemnation of Israel for its policy of death squad assassination of =
Palestinian political and police figures."=20

The Stern-Intel report said: " If verified, the news of Israel's =
involvement in the US attack will come as no surprise to intelligence =
experts. The state of Israel had a long history of covert operations =
against Western targets, with attacks on the King David Hotel, USS =
Liberty, the murder of a Scandinavian UN envoy as well as espionage =
against US during Jonathan Pollard case.

In the wake of Tuesday's attacks against US, according to the report, =
the US Defense Department issued a warning to its officials to halt the =
leak of information on the investigation, which it said was happening on =
a daily basis since the attacks occurred.

Yet another example of Israeli covert operation was the case of =
so-called "Palestinian" terrorist Abu Nidal in the 1980s, who, it =

were told that in future they are to use Israel's own euphemism for the =
murders, calling them "targeted killings". It all sounds a bit like the =
US military's policy of referring to innocent civilians killed in =
American bombing raids on Iraq as "collateral damage".

This Israeli government policy of murdering its opponents has been =
rightly condemned by many nations as a horrific and morally utterly =
inexcusable policy. Under the policy, the Israeli government has =
repeatedly approved the "liquidation" of Palestinians suspected of =
hostile activities against Israeli soldiers or civilians. In Israeli =
rhetoric, these murders have been termed as "hitting Palestinian =
targets," the truth, however, is that these killings constitute extra =
judicial executions, where the victims have been killed without trial =
and without the chance of a fair legal process designed to examine the =
allegations brought forward against them. They have been sentenced to =
death in what is totally illegal, secret process, without being given =
the chance to defend themselves or to appeal the "sentence". (Now, you =

President George W.Bush on Thursday declared Friday a day of mourning =
and remembrance in the US. He describes Tuesday's attacks as "the fist =
war of 21st century," conveniently ignoring the fact that this dubious =
distinction in fact goes to the brutal new war that Israel has been =
waging against the Palestinian people since September 2000. It is a war =
that US government has never condemned Israel for, let alone doing =
anything to stop it.=20
