To the first poster, looking for software, have a look at jwz's gronk. I'm
running it at home, and it rocks (pardon the pun).

As far as building a box to go in the trunk, I've been putting it off for over
a year, and thinking of ditching the idea completely. Some things I have
done, that worked well:
- linux on an old notebook with MP3s and xmms, playing through a cassette
adaptor in the car stereo
- portable CD/MP3 player (mine's a noname SOUL, also sold as RIO Volt)
playing through the cassette adaptor. LOTSA MP3s fit on a cd-rw...
I'm also thinking about grabbing a phatnoise box when they become available.
I saw pre-production prototypes on the show floor at the embedded systems
conference in SanFran a few weeks ago, and they really looked interesting...
