I have got to second that one. You never really intend to eat that many of
them, but before you know it you've polished off a half dozen. Trust me,
I've been there. Even my skinny friends do it.

The first Krispy Kreme in NorCal opened in late 1999 in Union city, which
happens to be the next town up from where I live. A few months later Car and
Driver published a very interesting picture.

It showed the Union City Police Department pickup truck (with hi-top cap)
and utility trailer completely full of Krispy Kreme Boxes. Figure each box
is about 12"x16"x3". The containers were each appx 96"x48"x48" thats 16
high, 3 wide, 8 deep x2 for a grand total of 768 boxes containing 9216
doughnuts.

That my friends is a lot of frikken doughnuts.

Apparently the Union City PD had pre-arranged the order, and took the first
several hours of doughnut production from the store. They then dropped
doughnuts off to all the local police and fire stations for three towns
around.

At the max rate they can pop out about 96 donuts a minute (they have an
amazing little production line going). Even at that rate, it was about 4
days (and they're open 24x7) before there wasn't a line out the door.

It's like doughy sugarcoated heroin or something
