Hi all,

I've been trying to install a new hard drive in a sparc5 at work and so far I'm
having zero success, maybe someone here can help. The drive in question is a
quantum 9.1gb lvd sca drive. there are two jumpers on the drive, one for SE mode
and the other for NC (i'm not sure what NC stands for) i don't have either set
jumpered. If i type 'probe-scsi' from the openboot OK prompt, it lists the first
two (this drive is target 3) drives, then the screen rolls by too quickly to
read, leaving two lines of zeros at the top of the screen and then listing the
information for the rest of the scsi devices correctly. I have booted from the
cdrom and used format to label the disk, it shows up correctly. I tried
installing Sol8 10/00 anyway yesterday, making sure my "/" partition was less
than 2gb. Upon rebooting, it starts to boot the solaris kernel and then bombs
out with a bunch of scsi transport errors or else resets. Anyone have an idea
what could be causing this? bad controller? wrong jumpers on the drive? this is
also a new system board, so the problem could lie there. does anyone have a
listing of the proper jumper settings for a sparc5 110 main board?

TiA,
-brian
