I am trying to get some perl programs installed on my 2.8 Solaris box
and I keep running into a brickwall.

The perl program is Digest-MD5-2.12

Here is what I get...
insane-postal> perl Makefile.PL
Testing alignment requirements for U32... Test program exit status was 0
Checking if your kit is complete...
Looks good
Writing Makefile for Digest::MD2
Writing Makefile for Digest::SHA1
Writing Makefile for Digest::MD5

mkdir ../blib/lib/auto/Digest/MD2
cp MD2.pm ../blib/lib/Digest/MD2.pm
/bin/perl -I/usr/perl5/5.00503/sun4-solaris -I/usr/perl5/5.00503
/usr/perl5/5.00503/ExtUtils/xsubpp  -typemap
/usr/perl5/5.00503/ExtUtils/typemap -typemap typemap MD2.xs >xstmp.c &&
mv xstmp.c MD2.c
cc -c   -xO3 -xdepend    -DVERSION=\"1.01\" -DXS_VERSION=\"1.01\" -KPIC
-I/usr/perl5/5.00503/sun4-solaris/CORE  MD2.c
cc: unrecognized option `-KPIC'
cc: language depend not recognized
cc: MD2.c: linker input file unused since linking not done
Running Mkbootstrap for Digest::MD2 ()
chmod 644 MD2.bs
LD_RUN_PATH="" cc -o ../blib/arch/auto/Digest/MD2/MD2.so  -G MD2.o
cc: MD2.o: No such file or directory
cc: No input files
make[1]: *** [../blib/arch/auto/Digest/MD2/MD2.so] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/insane/sparc/work/Digest-MD5-2.12/MD2'
make: *** [subdirs] Error 2

anyone have any ideas?

I come from the *BSD world. I am a learning newbie to Solaris. ;-)

TIA
