[SunRescue] IPX nvram problems

Hmmmm. The M48T12-150PC1 is the right ship for an IPX--
I even re-NVRAMed (proper verb?) an IPX earlier this week.
The "Power-On SelfTest FAILED ... Replace TOD/NVRAM" can actually
apply to several circumstances. When you got the message originally, (before
you replaced the chip) did you notice if the MAC address
displayed was OK, or was it all zeros or "FF"s? If the MAC address was
OK, then the machine may have actually been complaining about something
else (some motherboard problems will cause the machine to generate the
same message).

When you reprogrammed the new chip, what did you use as the MAC
address and how did you post the checksum. It will tell you that the NVRAM
chip is no good if the checksum is bad (It'll complain about the
checksum earlier in the boot sequence.
