I managed to pull it out. Yes it was socketed, I have seen images at
obsolyte.com of an SS2 with two socketed chips in the rear area, mine has
three, as a point of reference. I managed to get it out by prying the chip
out with a screwdriver, the edges of the socket are a little beat up now,
but no damage other then the cosmetic. Those chips are a pain to remove,
low insertion force my ass. Anyhow, everything seems to work fine, I plan
on replacing this board with the Cycle SS5 one in a couple days anyhow,
maybe this board can be made into a firewall or something. Thanks for the
help everyone,
Zach

been trying to pry the existing Sun processor out of an SS-2 for about 20
minutes now with no headway (other then bending one of my knives). Is there
a tool I need to pry the existing chip out?
