Depends on what precursors you have available.  Xanthines are pretty easy.

Organic synthesis with the intention of consuming the results is a bit
like flying a plane, though.  It's possible to learn how by reading a lot
of theory and getting lucky, but your chances of survival are a lot better
if you have someone there to show you the ropes.  One wrong atom can
really mess up your day.
