[rescue] help with xyplex and Sun

Hello all,

I have a Xyplex max server 20, and have successfully configured and 
connected to it.

These are OK:  NetraT1 <-- crossover cable --> xyplex
These are NOT OK:  SunFire280 <-- standard cable --> xyplex

Netras get this: "netra1 console login:"
Sunfires get this: "sunfire1 console login: sunfire1 console login:"

Sunfires also get a double "#" prompt after logging into the console.

Any help would be appreciated.
